Grace is sometimes a difficult concept to understand. To receive saving grace through Jesus Christ, an individual must believe certain things [John 20:31]. The individual focuses on the fact that we have no righteous before God [Romans 3:10]. You have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God [Romans 3:23]. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Jesus [John 14:6]. Salvation is found in no one but Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved [Acts 4:12]. You must believe that Jesus died for you and also died in your stead [Romans 5:8-11, 1 Corinthians 15:3]. The individual confesses that Jesus is Lord [Romans 10:9-10, 13]. You are then justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus [Romans 3:24-25]. According to the riches of His grace, you have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins [Ephesians 1:7, Colossians 1:14]. You receive remission of sins through His name [Acts 10:43]. You have eternal life [John 3:15-16].
In the same way, a believer must believe certain things to receive the healing grace of Jesus Christ. You believe that Jesus shed his blood for the remission [aphesis] or penalty of your sins [Matthew 26:28, Acts 2:38]. The penalty for your sins are disease, physical death, and finally the second death [Genesis 2:17, Ezekiel 18:4, Revelation 20:6]. Jesus gave his body for your physical healing [1 Corinthians 11:24, Luke 22:19, Mark 14:22, 1 Corinthians 10:16]. You place confidence in the fact that Jesus bore your sins in his own body on the tree. He bore your sickness/diseases [nosos], and he took your infirmities [astheneia], your weakness, your symptoms caused by disease. You being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness, and with his stripes, you were healed at Calvary [1 Peter 2:24, Matthew 8:17, John 19:30]. Jesus borne your griefs [choliy] (sickness) and carried your sorrows [mak'ob] (physical or mental pain] [Isaiah 53:4-5]. Jesus took all the devastating consequences of disease in your body that might produce weakness [infirmities] of any kind, in order to carry them himself. Jesus took up your diseases to carry or bear them upon himself [Matthew 8:17]. You will not bear or carry what Jesus already has. You are not bearing or carrying sins, disease, or weakness caused by disease. Jesus was wounded for my transgressions. Jesus was bruised for my iniquities. The chastisement [scourging/flagellation] of your peace [shä·lōm] was upon Jesus [Isaiah 53:5, Mark 15:15, Matthew 27:26]; and with his stripes you were healed [1 Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:5].
